6mm BS1088 Marine Plywood is a premium-grade, certified marine sheet manufactured to the internationally recognised British Standard BS1088. This standard requires the use of selected hardwood face veneers free from open defects, a void-free core, and fully waterproof Type A adhesive bonding throughout — making it the benchmark for plywood used in demanding marine and outdoor environments where moisture resistance and panel integrity are critical.

Key Specifications

  • Size: 2400 x 1200mm
  • Thickness: 6mm
  • Standard: BS1088 certified marine plywood
  • Bond Type: Type A — fully waterproof throughout
  • Core: Void-free throughout all veneer layers
  • Face: Selected hardwood, free from open defects

Common Uses & Applications

  • Boat hull planking, topsides, and deck sheeting in small craft and dinghies
  • Interior panelling and lining boards in boats and yachts
  • Cabin bulkheads and lightweight interior partitions in marine vessels
  • Kayak, canoe, and paddleboard construction
  • Tender and dinghy hull construction
  • Outdoor furniture — garden tables, chairs, and bench seats

  • Coastal home cladding and external wall linings
  • Outdoor signage panels and wayfinding boards
  • Pergola and outdoor structure panelling
  • Wet area applications — shower walls, wet room linings, and splash backs behind tile
  • Planter boxes, garden bed surrounds, and landscaping structures
  • Custom campervan and caravan fit-out requiring moisture-resistant cabinetry
  • Architectural feature panels in covered external spaces
  • Pram and dinghy bottom panels and transom boards

Why Choose This Product BS1088 certification is the gold standard in marine plywood — it cannot be self-declared and must meet strict third-party verified standards. The void-free core is arguably the most important feature: in standard construction plywood, hidden core voids can cause unexpected failures under load or water ingress. In marine ply, every layer is solid and consistent, delivering predictable, reliable performance even in the harshest environments.

Durable!

Our grades-one of the highest structural ratings available for plywood in Australia. This rating certifies its suitability for engineered formwork systems, falsework designs, and high-load concrete forming applications where the plywood must perform as a structural element, not merely a forming skin.

A-Bond. F11 Rated. Built for Every Perth Build

Whether you're framing a new home in the hills or laying subfloors on a commercial site in the CBD, our Structural Plywood range has the right thickness for every application. Every sheet in our structural range is F11 stress-grade certified and bonded with full A-Bond phenolic resin adhesive — the gold standard for structural plywood in Australia.

A-Bond gluing means every single glue line throughout the sheet is bonded with waterproof phenolic resin, not just the face layers. This is what separates true structural plywood from cheaper alternatives. It won't delaminate in Perth's heat, it won't swell in wet weather, and it won't lose its structural integrity on exposed job sites. Whether you're bracing walls, decking a roof, laying a subfloor or lining structural walls, our A-Bond sheets are independently certified to Australian Standard AS/NZS 2269 and will perform for the life of the building.

The cross-laminated core construction — alternating grain direction in each veneer layer — gives each sheet exceptional rigidity, resistance to warping and outstanding fastener retention. Screws, nails, staples and bolts all grip consistently across the full sheet with no blow-out, no splits and no weak spots.

Our range covers everything from lightweight 4MM bracing panels right through to heavy-duty 17MM A-Bond sheets for high-load structural flooring, mezzanines and commercial applications. All sheets are precision-milled to exact thickness and square-cut for fast, accurate on-site installation.

Available Sizes:

  • 4MM Bracing — wall bracing, wind bracing, light structural framing
  • 12MM CD — subfloors, roof sarking, site hoardings, wall lining
  • 15MM A-Bond — structural flooring, high-load bracing, commercial builds
  • 17MM A-Bond — heavy structural flooring, mezzanines, industrial platforms

Smooth Both Sides. Clean Finish. The Interior Sheet Perth Tradies Swear By.

Our BB Grade Non-Structural Plywood range is the go-to interior sheet for Perth's cabinet makers, joiners, shopfitters, van builders and furniture makers. Available from 7MM right through to 25MM, every sheet in the range features two smooth, sanded BB-grade faces that are ready to paint, laminate, veneer or lacquer straight off the shelf — no sanding, no filling, no prep work needed.

BB grade means both the face and back veneer have been carefully selected and sanded to a consistently smooth, even finish. Only minor, tight natural characteristics are permitted under BB grading — no open knots, no large splits, no rough patches. What you get is a clean, professional surface that takes paint evenly, holds lacquer without bleed-through and accepts laminate without telegraphing imperfections. It's the standard that Perth's best cabinet makers and joiners demand on every job.

The core construction is cross-laminated with tight, void-free glue lines throughout. No hollow spots means no blow-out when routing hinge housings, no weak points when drilling shelf pin holes and no surprises when cutting profiles. The sheets stay flat, the joins come up flush and the results look professional every time.

From lightweight 7MM for cabinet backs and drawer bottoms, through to 12MM and 15MM for full carcass construction, to 19MM and 25MM for solid benchtops, structural shelving and workbench tops — the full range covers every interior application in one place.

No Voids. No Compromise. True Marine Grade.

If you're building a boat, fitting out a trailer, decking a jetty or working in any environment where the plywood will face sustained moisture, salt air or direct water contact — there is only one standard that matters. BS1088. And that is exactly what our Marine Plywood is certified to.

BS1088 is the most stringent international standard for marine-grade plywood. Under BS1088, every single veneer layer must be free from voids, gaps and open defects throughout the full thickness of the sheet — not just the face veneers that are easy to see, but every layer in between. This is the critical difference between genuine marine ply and ordinary plywood that is merely sold as "water-resistant." In genuine BS1088 certified marine ply, there are no hidden voids to trap water, cause delamination or create weak points that fail mid-project.

Each sheet is bonded with WBP (Weather and Boil Proof) phenolic resin adhesive — the same adhesive standard used in structural and formwork plywood — which maintains full bond integrity even under prolonged water immersion, steam exposure and dramatic temperature fluctuation. In Perth's harsh marine environment, between the blazing summer sun and the salt-laden coastal air, this level of durability is not optional — it's essential.

The face veneers are smooth, tight-grained hardwood that accepts marine paints, varnishes, epoxy coatings and fibreglass laminates evenly and reliably. Whether you're applying a high-gloss enamel to a boat interior or rolling epoxy onto a pontoon deck, the smooth void-free surface gives you a clean, professional result every time.
